Fields of mountain blueberries

We were headed to Max’s for dinner and thought why not go out a little early and run up Foss Mountain prior to dinner.

Five minutes farther up the same dirt road that Max’s is located on is the not so secret gem that is Foss Mountain.  The approach via car is grade V with several completely blind passages over hills on a lane that is 1.5 cars wide. And there is a hill where it is marked – “4 Wheel drive only – use low gear”. The reward for this is a half mile walk on a wide graded trail that resembles a sidewalk until you get to the granite dome that is the summit.  Passing through active commercial blueberry fields you cross into publicly accessible fields for picking – and this is the time of year for it. The fruit was full and heavy everywhere we looked.

Also, every where you look is a long view. No other location I have stood has provided such an impressive 360 degree view.

Around 320 degrees worth of the view

We soaked up the spectacle, watched a murder of crows play on the breeze and rejoiced in the natural beauty before us.

It was twenty minutes from the top to get to Max’s for our 6PM reservation. We sat outside and enjoyed a great meal with blueberry Mojito’s
